The Jizo Project: Creating a More Accesssible and Accomodating Refuge for Practice
June 9, 1:15 – 2:45
Zen Mountain Monastery Sangha House
“Students speak of wanting to continue to train throughout their lives. What a wonderful aspiration!”
— Geoffrey Shugen Arnold, Roshi

Please join us on June 9 for the launch of the Jizo Project, an important initiative to make ZMM a more welcoming place of practice. At the meeting, Shugen Roshi and other members of the Jizo Project fundraising committee will share the Monastery’s ambitious plans to make significant and long-needed changes to our buildings and grounds, the centerpieces of which are: 1) the construction of a larger, modern new Jizo House, which will include end-of-life quarters for monastics as well as retreat housing; 2) the construction of a lift in the main Monastery building, from the ground floor to the zendo; and 3) other accessibility improvements.
We will also present the Monastery’s fundraising goals including how sangha may contribute to
bringing this vision to life. The whole event will be Livestreamed and archived for viewing that
day or at a later time. Click here to read our blog post about the Jizo Project.
