  • Around 1,400 people are currently wait-listed for a transplant.
  • A further 11,000 people are on dialysis, of whom many would benefit from, for example, a kidney transplant.
  • Our mission at MDA Australia is to increase the number of local Jewish Organ Donors.  This will be a new initiative – stay tuned for updates….

7 Myths about Jewish Burial - and let’s work towards saving more lives in Australia.
Earlier this month, Balkees Abu Awad became the first Druze woman to become a Medicycle first responder. Already an EMT and certified ambulance driver, Balkees isn’t just blazing a trail for other women in her community to follow, she’s saving lives by providing critically needed emergency medical care.

Your gift to support Magen David Adom makes it possible, providing Balkees with the training, equipment, and support she needs to do her job — saving lives in the process.
And transforming a few along the way. Make a donation today.
For the second time in recent years, it was announced this week that Magen David Adom was going to be awarded the Rabin Prize, Israel’s national award for quality and excellence for public-sector organisations.
MDA received the prize in 2017 for the quality of its emergency medical services, response times, and technological innovations. This time around, the recognition goes to our organisation’s Blood Services Division, which processes and safety-tests all the blood in Israel, supplies 97 percent of the blood used by Israel’s hospitals, and supplies all the blood used by the IDF.
This year’s honour is the result of the hard work and dedication of more than 2,000 employees and 23,000 volunteers. But it’s also the result of people like you — donors who make all of MDA’s work possible, from the Blood Services Division honoured this year to the EMS work that’s saving lives on Israel’s streets every day.
Thank you.
On the Road with MDA...
In 2017 The Melbourne Jewish Community raised $211,400 to be able to purchase a 4 x 4 Life Support Ambulance as well as a Medicycle for Magen David Adom in Israel.
The 4 x 4 Life Support Ambulance has been on the road since December 2017 and is located at the Jerusalem station.
In total, this vehicle has attended to 486 emergency calls.
THANK YOU to the Melbourne Jewish Community for continuing to save lives in Israel!

Last week, Israel’s embassy to the Republic of Chile launched an initiative led by Magen David Adom that’s providing ways for the City of Santiago to dramatically improve emergency medical services in the Chilean capital.

“Magen David Adom EMTs and paramedic are saving lives every day in Israel,” said MDA’s director-general Eli Bin. “But it’s gratifying and exciting to contribute to saving lives not just in Santiago, but around the world.”

As a supporter of Magen David Adom, the training you provide MDA’s EMTs and paramedics has enabled them to pass their world-leading mass casualty skills onto those who in need of saving lives around the world.
Your support makes a difference.
