More on the MAX
Airlines are pushing their projected date of 737 MAX return to service further in to 2020. American Airlines and United Airlines currently say January, while this week Southwest pushed their date to 8 February and Air Canada says it won’t schedule any MAX flights before 14 February.
On 11 October, the Boeing Board of Directors stripped Chairman & CEO Dennis Muilenburg of his chairman title, separating the positions and naming David L. Calhoun as non-executive chairman.
Also on 11 October, the Joint Authorities Technical Review final report was released. The report is the work of a team from the FAA, NASA, and 9 civil aviation authorities from around the world. The report is highly critical of the FAA and Boeing regarding the certification of the 737 MAX’s automated flight control system known as MCAS.
