Its Time to MOVE to Aspen!

I reached out yesterday to some of my Compass colleagues to make plans for our national Compass meeting in Miami in mid-November. The most interesting piece of information came from Suzanne Bakst, a top agent in Manhattan. The market there is down or as she says REALLY DOWN. She attributes it to huge tax increases including the city “mansion“ tax up to 4%, transfer tax, city tax, state tax and of course, the ceiling now of the SALT real estate tax (state and Local max deduction of $10,000). The number of luxury deals in Manhattan plummeted from 640 in the 14 week period before the new taxes were implemented in July 1, 2019 to 242, a 62% drop. Two well respected economists, Art Laffer and Steve Moore estimate about 800,000 people will leave California and NY over the next 3 years. They also predict about 500,000 more will leave Minnesota, Connecticut and New Jersey for similar excessive tax reasons.


SO, WE ARE INVITING YOU TO CONSIDER ASPEN where our state tax is 4.63% and proposed to drop to 4.5% retroactive in 2019! Our real estate taxes are still considered very low!
