Qantas grounds 3 737s with cracked pickle forks

Qantas has removed 3 737NGs from service after inspections revealed they have cracked pickle forks. Inspections were required for 33 of the airline’s 75 737NGs. Multiple airlines have already sent affected aircraft to Boeing’s repair station at Victorville. We discussed in depth the problem of cracked pickle forks on AvTalk episode 68.
Norwegian 787 LN-LND flight path over Rome
Preliminary Report: Norwegian 787 uncontained engine failure 
Italian investigators have released a preliminary report on the uncontained engine failure suffered by DY7115 departing Rome in August. The failure of the Rolls Royce Trent 1000 engine showered the neighborhood near the airport in debris, though no one was injured and the aircraft returned safely to Rome.

An Airbus A220
Regulators issue additional directives after Airbus A220 engine failures
Transport Canada and the FAA both issued directives this week regarding the Pratt and Whitney engines on the Airbus A220 following a recent string of engine failures. Transport Canada says to limit the N1 setting on the engines to less than 94% above 29,000 feet and the FAA is requiring additional inspections of the engines.

The 787 VH-ZNJ is now conducting flight tests prior to delivery. As part of its delivery, it will complete the 2nd Project Sunrise test flight, flying from London to Sydney non-stop.

New airline Starlux takes delivery of its first aircraft
New airline Starlux took delivery of its first A321neo this week. The airline has orders for 10 A321neos and 17 A350s. The Taiwan-based airline is conducting training flights with the aircraft before service begins early in 2020.
