Shalom Emma
Happy Chanukah and thank you so much for the amazing support you gave to MDA during our Emergency Appeal last month.
For your information, we received our first donation in under a minute of the email going out. The fact that Israel has to go into sudden hyper alert mode is terrible in itself but the support that we, the Friends societies throughout the diaspora, give to Israel is incomparable.  Without you and your ongoing support Magen David Adom would not be able to do what we do.
We also thank all those who participated in Mitzvah Day on 17 November.  Not just those who booked to donate blood through MDA Australia but to the whole community who get out and involve themselves in our Community.

When Zion Amit from Lod was just 3-and-a-half years old, she was diagnosed with leukemia. During the intense and nauseating medical treatments, Yuval HaMebulbal, star of an Israeli kids’ program, succeeded in putting a smile on her face when she watched his show on TV.

So, a few weeks ago, MDA’s Wish Ambulance picked up Zion and her mother from their house in Lod, and drove them to Yuval’s home to meet her favourite TV personality —  for hugs, music, and a lot of love.

“I had a lot of fun meeting my favourite TV star,” Zion said, “I am happy the wish ambulance took me and made my wish come true.”

The Wish Ambulance is a volunteer project of Magen David Adom and fulfils the requests of adults and children dealing with serious illnesses. So MDA isn’t just saving lives, it’s making life better for Israelis too.
It’s called an endotracheal tube and it enables paramedics to ensure critically injured patients are breathing properly and getting sufficient oxygen, whether they’re victims of physical trauma, such as a car accident, or ill with a respiratory ailment, such as pneumonia.

So, not surprisingly, these tubes often play a critical role in saving lives. Magen David Adom, Israel’s national emergency medical service organization, needs 10,000 endotracheal tubes to meet Israel’s needs in 2020. But when lives are at stake, it’s money well-spent.
