Report: Boeing quietly phases out the 747
As Airbus prepares to assemble the final A380, it would appear the Boeing 747’s days are numbered as well. In news that is not surprising, but still sad, Bloomberg reports this week that Boeing will halt production of the 747 at the end of the current order book. At the current rate of 6 per year, Boeing has two and a half years worth of production left. All remaining orders are for freighters. The final passenger 747 was delivered to Korean Air in 2017.
