Qantas 747
Qantas retiring the 747 with Farewell Jumbo Joy Flights
Qantas announced the retirement of its 747 fleet at the end of June, bringing an official end to nearly 50 years of service with the airline. To say goodbye, Qantas will operate three special ‘Farewell Jumbo Joy Flights’ on 13, 15, and 17 July with its last remaining 747. The aircraft will then depart Sydney for the final time as QF7474 on 22 July.

Qantas is in the process of sending their A380 fleet to long-term storage at Victorville. The airline has said it will be at least mid-2023 before the aircraft re-enter service. ‘Nancy Bird Walton’ VH-OQA will arrive at VCV today.

Air Arabia Abu Dhabi is set to launch next week with flights to Alexandria (14 July) and Sohag (15 July). Air Arabia and partner Etihad Airways are promoting their joint venture as Abu Dhabi’s first low-cost carrier.
