We Rise Together! From Marches to #MeToo - to 5WCW!
Liberating Gods in Every Woman (and Man), my new Website
Dear Friends,
I was thinking about this eNewsletter, when I came across this quote, “According  to the I.M.F., when women are equally represented in all aspects of economy and business, it can cause national G.D.P.s to rise rapidly. In India, by 27% points.” (Sunday, NY Times, Interview with Christiane Amanpour). It immediately made me cheer "5WCW in India!” This is my hope and advocacy.
I’ll be at the UN in March, my proposed NGOCSW panel “We Rise! We Rise! We Rise Together!” was accepted. The purpose: to advocate for a UN resolution in the General Assembly for a 5th World Conference on Women (5WCW), in India. There is momentum from the  Women’s Marches and #MeToo Movement. I hope that this will lead to NGOCSW-New York to join NGOCSW-Geneva to actively support 5WCW, and that women attending the CSW parallel meetings will lobby their country’s UN Mission while in New York, and once home, will continue to do so.The last conference was in Beijing 1995, before internet and social media made communication across distances easy. I’ll be going to New Delhi for the Women’s Economic Forum 2018 April 26-May 1 where I hope to further efforts for a 5WCW in India. India has had the largest and most activist feminist demonstrations, more NGOs concerned with women and girls than any other country, and is the largest democracy in the world.
New Dehli: In his first radio address of the year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said woman in the country are "playing a pioneering role and establishing milestones". If India is to progress and reach new heights, he said in Maan ki Baat, "it can only be possible only if and when women walk shoulder-to-shoulder with men, and in fact lead the way".

PM Modi, whose government has extended support to a women's literacy programme and tried to curb female foeticide and infanticide through its "Beti bachao, beti padhao" (Save the girl child, educate her) initiative, also said woman power has contributed a lot in the positive transformation in the country. In this context, he mentioned the achievements of all-women teams -- from a transatlantic flight to the Matunga railway station in Mumbai, which, recently entered record books.
It was fun to speak about  Gods in Every Woman (and Man) beginning with Hephaestus, Hermes, and Dionysus, (You can listen to this free audio! )They are abilities and talents that emerge in women only when women have the opportunity and freedom to develop them: Hephaestus is the craftsperson who worked with his hands to make things, he was ingenious, creative, deeply introverted and rejected.
Hermes the messenger god, who guided souls to the underworld and rescued Persephone from the underworld. Dionysus was the ecstatic god, who drew women to revel with him in nature, and was persecuted. When they are active archetypes and have a place in our psyches, they help us become who we were meant to be. Patriarchy has suppressed and devalued two of these archetypes in men as well as women. In the audio I talk with Stephen Dinan, founder of The Shift Network, about these archetypes and their relevance now, for 45+ minutes. After which Stephen tells about the course Liberating the Gods Within You: Deepening Your Life’s Journey through the Gifts of 8 Masculine Archetypes, tells what is in store and invites registration for the seven module course with a tuition of $297 or three payments of $109. If you indicate interest, the follow ups are informative, and you aren’t committing until you definitely do commit. I trust the integrity of the Shift Network after doing two courses with them. It is a privilege for me to teach what I know, with the ease I can have for an hour and then for the next half hour respond to questions, after which listeners can go into small discussion groups. I feel I am speaking into a circle from my living room, especially after starting with a hello! and hearing hellos! back from all over the world.
I have a new website Hooray!! Hooray!! It has been a long haul, until I found a web designer, Amanda Navarro,  who took it on, came through and had it up as promised in January. It was a challenge with many books, anthologies, translations, media, schedules and links. Takes a while to explore, though navigating it is easy. It also is like my life, still a work in process.
