A pilot attempting to land in Gaithersburg, Maryland descended too low and flew right into a set of high-voltage transmission lines. The pilot and passenger suffered no serious injuries, but it took crews many hours to secure the scene and extract them from the aircraft.

Lufthansa begins A380 return to service
The first Lufthansa A380 departed storage in France today for Frankfurt. It flew with the landing gear deployed because it is not possible to perform an A380 gear swing at Tarmac Aerosave’s facilities in Teruel. After a light maintenance visit in Frankfurt, the aircraft will be sent to Manila for heavy maintenance and preparation for passenger flights by summer 2023.

US Senator floats path for 737-7 & -10 certification
Senator Maria Cantwell is offering an amendment that would allow Boeing to certify the 737-7 and 737-10 MAX airplanes without adding a new crew alerting system. However, Boeing would be required retrofit all 737-8 and 737-9 MAX with two new safety enhancements already required on the -10.
