YouTuber who intentionally crashed plane for views pleads guilty to obstruction of federal investigation
A YouTuber who falsely claimed his aircraft’s engine died and was unable to land has pleaded guilty to obstructing the investigation into the incident. Trevor Daniel Jacob intentionally crashed the aircraft then retrieved the video footage from the wreckage. He then, according to the plea, lied to investigators about the location of the wreckage, used a helicopter to move the wreckage to an airport hanger and then dismantled and disposed of the aircraft.

Newsletter reader and Air New Zealand 777 Captain Daivd Griffin sends us this snap from the flight deck over the Pacific Ocean at the beginning of April. He was flying NZ5 from Los Angeles as NZ7 from San Francisco overtook them 4,000 feet above en route to Auckland. The photo was captured about midnight with storms brewing just off the right wing.
