One year ago today, Ukrainian International Airlines flight PS752 carrying 167 passengers and 9 crew was shot down by the Iranian military shortly after departing Tehran. Our thoughts today are with the victims and their families.

Saudi Arabia ends Qatar blockade
A three year blockade of Qatar by Saudi Arabia officially ended this week as Qatar Airways flights began using Saudi airspace again for the first time since June 2017. During the blockade, rerouted flight paths added up to 4 hours to some Qatar Airways flights.

Commercial flights down 42% in 2020
Commercial flight traffic fell 42% in 2020. After the dramatic decline in flights in March, traffic recovered through July to roughly where we are now.

Boeing - US justice department enter deferred prosecution agreement on 737 MAX fraud charges
Boeing and the US Department of Justice have reached a deferred prosecution agreement to resolve a charge of criminal fraud related to the design and certification of the 737 MAX. Boeing will pay a total of $2.5 billion as part of the settlement, divided between a criminal penalty, damages to airline customers, and payments to victims’ families from the crashes of Lion Air 610 and Ethiopian 302.
