Iran AAIB issues final report on downing of PS752—Ukraine, Canada express concern it doesn’t go far enough 

Iran’s Air Accident Investigation Board released its final report on the downing of PS752 this week, reiterating the cause of the crash to be the missiles fired at the aircraft shortly after takeoff from Tehran. Both Ukraine and Canada took the unusual step of criticizing the report, with Ukraine saying that its ‘does not reveal the root causes of the tragedy or the chain of actions that led to it.’ For its part, Canada says the report says ‘what happened, but doesn’t address the why.’

After quality issues, FAA retains authority to issue airworthiness certificates to 4 Boeing 787s
 
The FAA normally allows officially designated employees of Boeing to issue airworthiness certificates for its 787s under FAA supervision. Because of continuing quality issues with some aircraft, the FAA is now retaining the authority to issue the airworthiness certificates themselves for four 787s as part of stricter scrutiny of the aircraft and Boeing’s manufacturing and assembly processes.

Airbus kicks off 100% sustainable aviation fuel test with A350 

Airbus, the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), Rolls Royce, and fuel producer Neste are beginning the first trial of 100% sustainable aviation fuel powered flight in a commercial aircraft. The group is using the Airbus A350 flying laboratory registered F-WXWB. The DLR’s Falcon will be used as a chase plane next month to take measurements of the A350’s exhaust.

Air Serbia is replacing its existing A330 and has painted a special Nikola Tesla livery on the new aircraft. Currently registered VP-BLY, it will be registered YU-ARB on delivery.

Last A380 makes first flight 

MSN 272, the final A380 Airbus will produce, made its first flight this week. With test registration F-WWSH, the aircraft flew from Toulouse to Hamburg for finishing work, including a coat of paint, and additional pre-delivery test flights.
