July 2025 WCVT eNewsletter
I hope you're enjoying the start of summer and taking full advantage of all the wonderful things Vermont has to offer. Whether it's hiking through our scenic trails, visiting a local farmers market, or spending time on the lake, there's so much to enjoy. I also want to wish you a joyful and safe Fourth of July! Be sure to enjoy the many parades, celebrations, and community events happening throughout our service area.

Once again, I’m proud to award six $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors from each of our local high schools. These scholarships are given in memory of my grandmother, Eunice B. Farr.  It is an honor to support the next generation as they begin their journeys.

Summer is a busy season here at WCVT as we continue expanding our fiber-optic network. Our crews are busy running mainline fiber, splicing, and installing both aerial and underground drops. WCVT service technicians are also hard at work converting customers to fiber in areas that are ready for service. In addition to our own team, you may see our trusted contractors working throughout the region. These include Eustis Cable Enterprises, JA McDonald, JSI, and Menard and Sons, who assist with field collection, engineering, line construction, and buried service work.

Thank you for your continued support and enjoy all that summer has to offer!

Sincerely,
Eric Haskin
President and CEO

FRS Community Grant Program
Now Accepting Applications for the 2025 FRS Community Grant Program

We are excited to share that the application window is now open for the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Community Grant Program! As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting rural communities, FRS offers grants to areas served by NTCA members, including those in the Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom service area.

These grants help fund local projects that aim to improve the quality of life in rural America. Awards typically range from $250 to $5,000 and focus on four key categories:

  • Business & Economic Development
  • Education & Workforce
  • Health & Well-being
  • Public Service & First Responders

Eligible applicants include nonprofits, schools, and community-based organizations with a project that fits into one of the above categories.

WCVT will review all submitted applications and forward those that best align with the program’s goals to FRS. Final grant awards will be announced in November. Note: 10% of each grant award is funded by WCVT, with the remaining 90% provided by FRS.

Applications are due by September 5, 2024. For full details, guidelines, and the application form, visit: frs.org.
