July 2026 WCVT eNewsletter
As we welcome the month of July, I want to take a moment to wish you and your family a fun, relaxing, and safe Fourth of July. Summer is a special time here in our community, and we’re grateful to be part of yours, thank you for being a valued customer.

We’re excited to share a few highlights this month. Don’t forget to enter our raffle for a chance to win tickets to the Addison County Fair and Field Days coming up this August. It’s a great event and we always look forward to seeing all of you at our booth each and every year. I’m also pleased to announce this year’s recipients of the Eunice B. Farr Scholarships, awarded to outstanding students from our local high schools. These scholarships are especially meaningful to me, as they honor the legacy of my grandmother and her deep commitment to education and community. For our local nonprofit partners, I encourage you to explore the Community Grant Program through our partnership with the Foundation for Rural Service. Applications are open now, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to support projects that make a real difference right here in our area.

On a personal note, I am honored to have received the National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award this past month from the Green Mountain Council. It’s a privilege to be recognized alongside so many who are dedicated to service and leadership.

Thank you again for your continued support. We look forward to serving you all summer long.

We wish these motivated students the best of luck in their future endeavors," said Eric Haskin, President and CEO of Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom. This year's recipients were as follows:

  • Lola Kimball – Middlebury Union High School
  • Myah Morgan – Danville School

To all seven students, we extend our heartfelt congratulations. We are proud to support your journey and can't wait to see all you accomplish. Here's to a bright future fueled by dedication, opportunity, and community!

Each year, Waitsfield and Champlain Valley Telecom grants seven scholarships, one to each public high school attended by students from our service area. These scholarships are donated in memory of the late Eunice B. Farr, former owner and operator of the Waitsfield-Fayston Telephone Company and grandmother of Eric Haskin. The scholarship criteria are as follows: "The award should be presented to a graduating senior who plans subsequent education, be it college or trade school. The faculty should select an individual who has shown steady academic improvement but is not necessarily at the top of the class. The award is designed to benefit a hard-working graduate whose instructors have found to demonstrate a sincere effort to improve grades/results and who plans continuing education."

We are excited to share that the application window for the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Community Grant Program is now open! • Health & Well-being
  • Public Service & First Responders

Eligible applicants include nonprofits, schools, and community-based organizations with a project that falls within one of the above categories.
