New ASCE Publication Offers Insight for Improved Stormwater Management Practices

Reston, Va. The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is proud to announce the release of Low Impact Development Hydrologic Modeling: West Stroh Gulch Case Study. This book explores innovative stormwater infrastructure planning for water quality, conveyance, detention, flood control, and stream health for the West Stroh Gulch watershed in Parker, Colorado.

Making hydrologic changes can lead to improved development practices, especially in stormwater infrastructure. The case study dives into alternative development approaches for preserving tributary stream networks and managing runoff using stormwater controls and will aid in understanding hydrologic changes that can lead to improved development practices. Specific topics covered in the book include continuous simulation model, event-based methods, modeling scenarios and inputs, and surrogate methods.

Sponsored by the Sustainable Stormwater Infrastructure Committee of the Waste, Wastewater and Stormwater Council of the Environmental and Water Resources Institute of ASCE, this book provides engineers, planners, and scientists with insights into innovative stormwater management practices and how these can integrate into and navigate the development process.

Cover of the book “Low Impact Development Hydrologic Modeling: West Stroh Gulch Case Study,” featuring a grassy field with shrubs and rolling hills under a partly cloudy sky. The title appears in bold black letters on a light blue background, with authors Andrew Earles, Jim Wulliman, Barbara Chongtoua, Sara Johnson, and Brik Zivkovich listed below. ASCE and EWRI logos are at the bottom.
