A double 7700: Twins, then illness
This week United flight 613 squawked 7700 (general emergency) and diverted to Dakar due to a passenger going into labor with twins. With the crew running short of duty hours, the flight headed back to Lagos for a reset. During that flight an elderly passenger suffered a medical event and the flight declared another emergency for priority landing in Lagos.

A 14 hour flight to nowhere

NTSB issues final report on DC mid-air collision
The NTSB issued its final report on the mid-air collision in Washington DC between a PSA Airlines CRJ and US Army Blackhawk helicopter. The report, at nearly 400 pages, provides a comprehensive overview of the causal factors and provides a litany of safety recommendations to the FAA, Army, and others.

TAP flight descends below 1000 feet miles from the runway
Czech investigators have opened a probe into TAP flight 1240’s low altitude well before the runway in Prague. The aircraft descended to below 1000 feet above the ground miles before the runway before climbing for a safe second approach.
