Esther & David Frenkiel recently visited the Marcus National Blood Services Center.

"We greatly appreciated the opportunity to visit this groundbreaking facility. It is at the forefront of excellence in its 3 core activities: Emergency response, blood services and the milk bank. So impressive and our guide Ayreh was very generous with his time. Thanks to Glynis Lipson and MDA Australia for arranging this visit."

The Marcus National Blood Services Center is designed to protect Israel’s strategic blood reserves from missile, chemical, and biological attack, as well as earthquakes. Three of the building’s six floors are built underground in successively more secure levels.

Livia Slonim reports on her experience on the MASA Program.

My name is Livia Slonim, and I graduated from Mount Scopus Memorial College in 2023, and began my gap year in Israel January of 2024.

I currently am in the second semester of MASA program, Aardvark, in Jerusalem, and taking part in the MDA חו״ל program. After completing a 10 day learning course with the other participants, we learnt extensive skills and knowledge of all possible encounters we may have once working in the ambulances. Some of the skills consist of CPR, bandaging, back-boarding injured patients and identifying factors of stroke, seizures and heart attack.

Not only did I learn immense practical skills, I also met lots of incredible new people who were sharing the same experience with me. After completing the course, all graduates begin to work inside ambulances almost immediately, as a first aid responder. After completing multiple shifts, I have worked with many different volunteers and gotten the opportunity to see incredible cases and help many people. During the course of our 8 hour shifts, we visit many different communities and people, seeing incredible cases and learn to help identify and treat illness. So far I have really enjoyed the challenging but rewarding experience, and am looking forward to continue to learn, meet people and give back to Israel.

MDA hosts groundbreaking conference on pre-hospital resuscitation in Israel.

Over 300 healthcare professionals gathered at Magen David Adom’s headquarters in Ramla for a specialized conference on pre-hospital resuscitation, organized in collaboration with the American Heart Association. This event brought together experts from hospitals, HMOs, MDA’s medical and training teams, and other emergency services.
